By entering a cup competition, a club accepts that in the event of winning a competition, that club will send a representative to the League Dinner to receive the relevant trophy.The League reserves the right to refuse entry to future competitions to any club who fails to send such a representative.
Rules of the Under 21 Development Competition
a At least 8 players must be under 21 atmidnight31st August of the previous year. No age restriction on remaining players
b. All players must have played at least 50% of their league games in the Westmorland League prior to each match. Any player over 21 must meet the following qualification rules:
(i) A minimum of 50% of his League games have been outside the 1st Division
or
(ii) The players last 3 consecutive games have been outside the 1st Division
c. Umpires will be appointed by the Umpires Secretary (Clubs must contact the Secretary in reasonable time to request an umpire), each team shall pay 1 umpire.
d. All group matches shall be arranged and dates advised to the fixtures secretary no later than 30th May and shall be played by 11th August. The home team shall offer the visitors two dates. All matches are to be played on Sundays unless prior agreement is given by the Fixtures Secretary
e The competition will be arranged on a round robin basis. 5 points will be allocated for a win, 3 points for a tied game and 2 points for an incompleted game. The top 2 teams will go into the final. In the event of 2 teams finishing equal after the round robin matches the winner/s will be decided by dividing the aggregate runs scored by each team by the number of wickets lost(information will be taken from results sheets)
f. Matches will be of 70 overs duration commencing at2pmwith each team batting for a maximum of 35 overs. The batting side will provide the fielding side with the match ball to use which must be a Westmorland League or Northern League Ball. In the final this will be provided by the League.
g No player shall bowl more than 20% (1/5 )of the scheduled overs in an innings. All batsmen shall retire at 50 but may return to the crease if necessary once all other wickets have fallen.
h. Tea will be taken between innings and will be of 30 minutes duration.
i. If there are no players over 21, each competing Club must nominate a Team Manager who must be present on match days.
j. Each Club shall provide a scorer for both innings Where a scorer is not provided, a player over 21 or the Team Manager will act as scorer (if necessary play with 10). .
k. Prior to start of play, the minimum number of overs for a completed innings shall be twenty five.
l. The match shall be won by the team who scores the most runs. If the match is a tie the team losing the least wickets will be the winner. If they have both lost the same number of wickets the match shall be deemed a tie and 3 points awarded to each team. If there are insufficient overs due to weather conditions to complete the game then the match in the 1st instance shall be replayed and in the 2nd instance shall be decided by a bowl out.
m. The bowl out
(a) Each player shall bowl one ball. The team that hits the wickets the most times shall be deemed the winner.
(b) Where the bowl out results in a tie, it will continue in a sudden death format with the players bowling in the same original order.
(c) All balls must pitch in front of the popping crease.
(d) Where a bowler balls a no ball, it shall count as a ball not hitting the wicket
n Existing League Cup rules (rules 15 & 16) will apply regarding interpretation of leg side wides and all other matters not covered above.
